Hidden Gems
This January, We invite you to uncover the magic of Ireland’s Hidden Gems. Beyond the well-trodden paths lie quaint villages, ancient ruins, and breathtaking landscapes waiting to be discovered. From secret coastal trails to lesser-known historic sites, we’ll guide you to the heart of authentic Ireland—places that whisper stories of the past and offer unforgettable memories.
Ringfinnan Garden Of Remembrance
This awesome hidden gem was shared with us by Derek O'Keeffe ( Private Tours Cork).
“I have had the ultimate honour and privilege of bringing family members, friends and colleagues to this location. Not many people know about it and it really needs to be mentioned by people like myself. To be honest I don’t bring everyone. If it feels right and I know it will make a difference.”
This location is the garden of remembrance outside Kinsale in a location called Ringfinnan. So many Americans come every year and only a small few have the opportunity to see this. It’s such a special place to remember the past, think about fallen hero’s and remember the connection between two amazing countries, Ireland and the United States of America.
Initiated by Kathleen Murphy, a New York City nurse who grew up in Kinsale, and located on her family's land in the townland of Ringfinnan
The Remembrance Garden contains 343 trees, each tagged with a name, in honor of the Irish American Father Mychal Judge, Chaplain to the New York Fire Department, and the other 342 first responders of the FDNY who died while trying to save others after the attack on the World Trade Center.
Text:
“We Will Never Forget
This Garden of Remembrance has been dedicated to the
Loving Memory of Fr. Michael Judge and the 343 Brave Firemen,
Who died so heroically in the line of duty at the Twin Towers Disaster
on September 11th 2001 in New York.”
