Not a Believer in Magic? 9-Year-Old Aidan's Win Will Change Your Mind!
Nine-year-old Gorey native Aidan McCann wowed the judges and audience on Ireland's Got Talent last month with his mesmerizing magic tricks. A third-grader, Aidan reached the live finals of the competition, hoping to win over the hearts and votes of the Irish public.
Aidan lives in Maynooth, Kildare with his parents Noella and Ronnie, his sister Molly, and their pets. His mother, Noella McCann, originally from Kilnahue in Gorey, is the daughter of Mary and Noel Brennan. Noella and her sisters attended Loreto school and were active in local drama, particularly with the Gorey Musical Society. Now, she runs a performing arts school and works as a professional actor.
Aidan's passion for magic began at about four or five years old. Captivated by the art, he started performing card tricks for his parents and their friends. Inspired by his mother’s theatrical background, Aidan asked to audition for Ireland's Got Talent, eager to showcase his magic to a larger audience.
Noella shared that Aidan loves the reactions he gets from his tricks, and he dreams of becoming a magician when he grows up. His teachers, family, and friends have been incredibly supportive. Describing her son as 'fun-loving and sensitive,' Noella is continually amazed by his confidence on stage.
Aidan's dream is to have his own TV show as a street magician, like his idol, Dynamo. He sees himself as a funny person, much like his favorite judge on the show, comedian Jason Byrne. During his audition, Aidan chose Jason to participate in his act, earning Jason's admiration as the 'mini version' of himself.
