O’Connell Street
Dublin’s Most Iconic Thoroughfare, From Revolutions to Rooftop Bars
Dear Ireland,
You are more than the sum of your landmarks. Beyond the wide boulevards and stone façades, it’s the feeling you give us—of coming home to something older, deeper, and truer than anything we left behind. In every sunrise over the Shannon, every story told in a quiet corner of a pub, every name etched into the past—you remind us who we are. And that, no matter how far we roam, there’s a part of us that always belongs to you.

You forgot to mention how degraded O’Connell St has become, to warn tourists about their belongings, to warn females that they could be harassed by all kinds of men and to be careful as drugs are rife around there, that the entire street is no longer the elegant boulevard it once was. It’s vital to warn tourists who are unfamiliar with O’Connell St as to the need to protect any valuables by not showing them off. It is essential to warn visitors of these risks so don’t leave Ireland with disappointment and loss of some of their possessions. Ireland has become flooded with undocumented immigrants which has caused deterioration of the city centre - it is imperative that people are made aware of these changes so they arrive prepared.
