Dear Ireland,
Sometimes I think I miss places I’ve never been — until I remember it’s you.
It’s in the way my mother boiled the kettle before every conversation.
In the silence my father kept when the sky turned grey.
You’re not just a land I long to visit — you’re the reason I’ve always felt like part of me was elsewhere.
And maybe, just maybe, coming to you isn’t travel.
Maybe it’s coming home.

A few years ago I was hiking the Kerry Way..100 miles on foot with my backpack and tent. On a drizzly evening I was exhausted having done about 10 miles that day. In the distance I saw what I thought to be a sign for a B&B...it turned out to be Micky Spillanes pub...the lady behind the bar told me I could pitch my tent in the field across the road. I did just that..and went in for a rake of pints...I will never forget it. The relief, the sheer joy! When things like that happen I can't help but smile and count my blessings!

Answer to yesterday’s question: - That sounds like colcannon! ☘️ It's a classic and comforting Irish dish, especially popular around St. Patrick's Day and Halloween. Some variations also include onions or leeks for extra flavor.
